Ottawa police used a “chemical stimulus” against the protesters. According to police, the protesters also brought small children to the police operation.

Canada in the capital, Ottawa, police and Convoy protesters clashed on Saturday as police continued to evict protesters from the city center.

Police said on local afternoon on Twitter they used a “chemical stimulus” against protesters for what they called offensive behavior. According to police, the protesters refused to comply with the transitional orders.

In addition, police said children were brought before the operation, which police warned was dangerous.

“Children may be taken to a safe place,” the Ottawa police Twitter account said.

Ottawa police gave protesters a final warning to leave the scene on Thursday. A total of at least about 150 people were arrested during the protest on Friday and Saturday.

38 vehicles had been towed away since Friday, police said local time on Saturday. Some also left voluntarily.

The protests began three weeks ago when truck drivers began protesting the corona vaccinations required to cross the U.S. border. Since then, the protest has blocked downtown Ottawa and turned into a wider protest against corona regulations and the country’s administration.

Major some of the leaders of the Canadian wave of protests have been arrested. Far-right activist Pat King was arrested on Friday. According to the Canadian broadcaster CBC, four criminal charges have been filed against King. The other two leaders, Tamara Lich and Chris Barberwas arrested on Thursday night.

On the economic side, attempts are being made to end the protests by freezing protesters’ bank accounts. Authorities have also sought to prevent the use of crowdfunding and cryptocurrencies to support the Convoy wave.

Prime minister Justin Trudeau ordered the introduction of an emergency law this week, giving the government broad powers to deal with the crisis.

According to the government, Canadian protests have cost the economy billions of dollars.
