For the first free practice session of the Canadian Grand Prix, Ferrari has chosen not to mount the fourth turbocharger of the season on Charles Leclerc’s car after the breakdown remedied in Baku. The Cavallino technicians opted to reuse – at least for this first day of activity in Montreal – the first (and only still intact) unit of the component, used in the first five races and in Monaco, while the third V6 has already been installed as a consequence of the damages suffered five days ago together with new MGU-H, MGU-K and ECU.
However the penalty on the grid remains around the corner for the Monegasque driver, because it is not excluded that the Maranello team may have opted to use the new turbo only starting on Saturday, thus preserving important kilometers and thus reorganizing the rotation of the various components.
Different case instead in the AlphaTauri house, where Yuki Tsunoda will be forced to start from the bottom of the Montreal grid having already homologated a completely new power unit, the fourth season.
