Deportivo Cali fought to the end against Oil Alliance in Barrancabermeja and managed to save, in stoppage time, a four-goal tie that, however, does not help them much in their fight to get out of last place in the 2022-II League.
It was a game with eight goals in the second half, with both teams coming from behind at different times and that ended with a lot of emotions.
The team that controlled the match in the first minutes was Alianza Petrolera, through good collective sequences and important approaches with long-distance shots. But then, the game became even and Cali had the most important option of the first half, in the 31st minute, with a one-on-one that Ángelo Rodríguez could not define only against Chunga, after a clearance by Teófilo Gutiérrez.
A second half with eight goals
The string of goals came in the second stage. After 7 minutes, after a sequence of passes between Kevin Londoño, Rubén Manjarres and Harrison Mojica, Daniel Moreno crossed and Pablo Bueno headed for 1-0.
Four minutes later, Alianza Petrolera extended the advantage with a quick advance through the same right sector. Mojica assisted Kevin Londoño and the midfielder made it 2-0. Later, the locals were able to give the final blow, but goalkeeper Acevedo appeared well to avoid the third.
At 16, Cali discounted with a goal from Angelo Rodríguez, who broke a streak of 24 games and 1,676 minutes without scoring in the League. Teófilo Gutiérrez took a rebound from a shot from the horizontal by Kevin Velasco and enabled Rodríguez, who beat goalkeeper José Luis Chunga.
Cali took advantage of the momentum to tie the game in the 24th minute, when Teo played into space with Yony González, who crossed into the area and Rodríguez headed it to get his brace.
The team of Candelo Mayer He continued long and at 28, González recovered a ball in a refusal by Alianza, he left it to Carlos Robles, the recovery midfielder finished off, it deflected into Carlos Pérez and Cali’s momentary comeback materialized.
At 39, Alianza Petrolera equalized with a corner kick executed by Mojica, Londoño headed at the near post and Julián Guevara headed at the second, scoring the 3-3. Two minutes later, Gil was enabled after a pass from Mojica, advanced and defined alone against Acevedo for 4-3.
In replacement time, between Chunga and Pérez they hit Teo in the area and the man from Barranquilla had to go on a stretcher. Then, the referee Diego Escalante was called by Lisandro Castillo’s VAR and decreed the penalty after seeing the monitor. Velasco stood in front of the ball and sealed the final tie at 4 goals.
The eighth day of the League began yesterday with the victory of Envigado 2-1 against Atlético Bucaramanga. The game was defined with a controversial penalty sanctioned with the help of VAR and converted by the Venezuelan Jesús Hernández, 40 minutes into the second half. Before, Carlos Ordóñez had put the locals ahead (5 PT) and Cristian Blanco tied for the visitor (6 PT).
The date continues this Saturday with Pereira vs. Cortuluá (2 pm). Patriots vs. Golden Eagles (4:05 pm), Millionaires vs. Jaguares (6:10 pm) and Medellin vs. Santa Fe (8:15 p.m.).
