The president of Caixa Econômica Federal, Pedro Guimarães, said this Friday (2) that the bank will announce in September a large microcredit program that will be available through the CaixaTem application. The proposal, according to Guimarães, is to make available a credit, which can vary between R$500 and R$3,000, pre-approved and with installments from 18 to 24 months.
“We are going to combine the end of the emergency aid with the beginning of the micro-credit program for 30 million people and we are going to combine it with two groups, the group that will receive Bolsa Família, this group is unable to pay, so it is an income transfer, and the group is able to pay it”, said the president.
Guimarães highlighted that, in the microcredit program, people will know the value of the installments they are going to pay. “This is very important because most people cannot calculate compound interest. The important [para a pessoa] it’s how much I’m going to pay per month and if it fits in her budget, then we’re going to launch this program when Bolsa Família is held. [Quanto ao novo] Bolsa Família, Caixa Econômica and I are involved in the operational part, who is really doing this discussion is the Ministry of Citizenship with the Ministry of Economy”, he said.
The president of Caixa was interviewed this Friday on the program Sem Censura on TV Brasil and also spoke, among other topics, about real estate financing, Caixa’s expansion, emergency aid and loan programs for micro and small businesses.
For Guimarães, the “greatest initial challenge [à frente da gestão da estatal] was to break and make it clear that [a Caixa] it is a bank of mathematics and at the same time a social bank”.
