The victory went to starter Luis Leroy Cruz who pitched for seven innings, while the loss went to Eduar López who pitched a route of 3.1 thirds of an inning.
Defeat of Caymans
Caimanes attacked to ride the result. Third baseman Mauricio Ramos, on account of a ball with no strikes, dispatched a huge homer off the left wall. Although there were no men in circulation, the homer was enough to put the Barranquilleros ahead 1-0.
But it was in the same third inning that the reaction of the islanders came. A wild pitch by Eduar López that Carlos Martínez could not block, allowed Reymond Fuentes to sneak into the register from third base to tie the match.
López retired from the mound in the fourth inning leaving the one on the mount for the Criollos in the third.
The relay was taken by Randy Consuegra who could not prevent his team from going at a disadvantage. Joneswhy Fargas surprised with a lightning touch that was left between receiver Carlos Martínez and Consuegra himself, allowing Emmanuel Rivera to come at full speed from the third for 2-1.
Caymans did not take off
The Colombian offensive failed to take off. A good job by Puerto Rican starter Luis Leroy Cruz kept the bats at bay. In addition, his team responded well to the demands.

Fargas himself destroyed an extra base hit by Andres Angulo, when he headed in to hit a fly ball that threatened to bite between the center and right fielders.
On the other hand, Consuegra got into trouble in the fifth inning, after two outs. The right-hander loaded the bases and he had to leave his place to left-hander Luis de Ávila to try to maintain the difference against him in just one line.
De Ávila was greeted with a single to the right by Roberto Enríquez, who chartered Emmanuel Rivera and Vimael Machín from the trails and increased the score to 4-1 now with three runs in favor of the Criollos.
The left-hander continued on the mound for the sixth inning where he could not control the rival offense. The Colombian let the bases be loaded and he was not able to hang out when pilot José Mosquera Crissón arrived with the crane to remove him from the mound.

The situation was faced by the Cartagena right Luis Escobar. The reliever arrived striking out Brett Rodríguez, but then he did not find the support of his infield, which allowed the difference to widen to 6-1.
Vimael Machín hit a grounder to first, where Andrés Angulo touched a runner for one out and then preferred to throw home for the double play, with the misfortune that his throw was bad and allowed two more to enter the account in Jancarlos’s baggy pants. Cintron and Raymond Fuentes.
Caimanes countered in the eighth inning, when they loaded the bases with no outs. Brallan Pérez raised a sacrifice line to the right that allowed Édgar Figueroa to score from third to discount one.
For Caimanes, Mauricio Ramos stood out, 4-2 with a home run, an RBI and a run scored.
Caimanes will return to action this Wednesday in the semifinal game of the Caribbean Series. The schedule and rival of the match is pending to be defined throughout the day.
