The Chinese SUV Tang, manufactured by BYD, is a car that is of interest to the European market. Sold in Norway, the electric vehicle has achieved good results since it landed in the Scandinavian country, and certainly among the brands of the Great Wall it is one of the closest to us.
In addition to a small restyling and the seven-seater option, the news on the 2022 version of the Tang are related to the drums. In China, the brand will offer greater autonomy thanks to a larger battery. According to Chinese media, the new model year has a new battery with an energy capacity of 108.8 kWh. In the 2021 model, the battery could at most achieve a capacity of 86.4 kWh, and going back in 2020 it was even lower, at 82.2 kWh. With the new battery, the Tang EV single-engine version should therefore get a range of 730 kilometersaccording to the Chinese CLTC standard.

The 380 kW all-wheel drive version with two electric motors currently has a range of 635 kilometers. BYD also said goodbye to the 2021 look with its large radiator grille, and switched to the “Dragon Face” look of other EV models such as the Han EV and Yuan Plus. There are also aerodynamically optimized rimsto improve the autonomy data.
The electric SUV will go on sale in China by the end of April at prices between 280,000 and 350,000 yuan (equivalent to 40,300-50,400 euros), according to reports from Electrive. Prices for Norway have not yet been revealed. In 2021 BYD Tang was put up for sale at prices not lower than 57,000 euros. BYD is not in fact a low cost brand and has no element that could suggest a landing on the main European markets with cars capable of challenging the most ‘popular’ brands. If it were to arrive in Italywould compete with a good number of Japanese brands that stand between the premium segment and the one that aims at the middle class.
