The Chinese automotive offensive in the world does not stop. BYDone of the main car manufacturers in the Asian country, has signed a three-year collaboration agreement with the British Castrol to favor the supply and promotion of state-of-the-art Castrol ON fluids for EV for zero-emission BYD cars. The partnership aims to contribute to an ever-increasing spread of battery-powered cars from the Chinese giant, which sold nearly 600,000 BEVs last year and is aiming for one million units by 2022.
Through an official note, BYD announced that it will officially recommend Castrol ON fluid for electric vehicle transmissions for its Han luxury sedan range. We are talking about a full electric midsize sedan that boasts a range of up to 605 km and which is one of the most popular draft models in China: over 150,000 units have been sold since its launch in 2020. The other side of the medal, or rather of the partnership, provides that the Chinese giant promote Castrol ON products in its online stores, after-sales centers and at its dealer network in China. And that’s not all, because the same agreement establishes the use of the Castrol ON fluid, specific for the transmissions of electric vehicles, by the New Energy Vehicle racing team owned by BYD involved in the Chinese Rally Championship.
“BYD was the first to introduce Castrol ON fluids for electric vehicles in the aftermarket in January 2021. Now we officially recommend the use of Castrol ON fluid for electric vehicle transmissions for our luxury sedan, Han – commented Zikai Gao, Operations Director of the BYD Global After-sales division – In anticipation of the end of the production of internal combustion engine vehicles, we are confident that the collaboration with Castrol will help us to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles worldwide”.
