Sergio Busquets has always said that when he hangs up his boots he wants to redirect his career towards the benches. And on Monday he gave a good show of his intentions. After the morning session at the Ciutat Esportiva, the brand new FC Barcelona first captain went to Val d’en Bas, where Xavi Hernández’s Al Sadd is doing a fourteen-day stage.
Busquets wanted to see ‘in situ’ what a day of coach Xavi with the Qatari team was like. He was in the morning session, then also in the technical talk before the friendly against Figueres and later in the game, where Al Sadd won 5-3.
The captain also took the opportunity to take photos with the players of the Qatari team and make a aside with Santi Cazorla, current Al Sadd player and former teammate.
Busi, who was especially interested in physical preseason work and tactical preparations before the game, was also present in the harangue in English by his former partner.
Everything indicates that this first contact by Busquets with Xavi’s working methods will be transferred to FC Barcelona in a few years. And it seems clear that their paths will cross again sooner rather than later.
