The burger, king of fast food, now has its place at restaurant tables. At L’Artisan du burger, it is even the only dish offered on the menu. “It’s economical, it’s good and what’s more, it’s quite user-friendly”, explains a young man who came to eat there with his group of friends. In this establishment, the hamburger is 12.50 euros and takes French accents: oak wood smoked sauce, onion compote and regional cheese. The hamburger seems adopted by French gastronomy. It is the most consumed dish in two thirds of restaurants.
We mistakenly believe that the burger comes from the United States, but its story would rather have started in Germany, as the journalist Anne-Claire Poignard recalls. “VSIt was in the 19th century that the recipe would have been imported to the United States by German immigrants. “ In the ranking of the most consumed fast food products, the hamburger comes in second with 1.7 billion sales, behind the sandwich. Its sales have increased by 12% in one year.
