New rumors emerge regarding the hybrid heir of Bugatti Chironwhich should make its debut in 2027. First of all for what concerns the engine part: the new hypercar of the French brand will be equipped with a hybrid powertrain that will include a petrol engine smaller than the current W16which is why it will be built on a new frame and will be slimmer than the last Mistral, unveiled in the past few hours.
From an aesthetic point of view it will look different from the current Bugatti, while maintaining the essence of the brand, while the focus will be concentrated on aerodynamics. “Our next hybrid powertrain will offer us many opportunities – the words reported by Autocar by the design director of Bugatti, Achim Anscheidt – There are opportunities to get a little more athletic in the future, without losing our DNA. We will also have constraints to respect in terms of performance, but by now we know every inch of our cars so well that we know exactly where change can help us and where it can create problems “. At the moment Bugatti preferred not to express himself about the style and lines of the next hypercar, much less about the electrified nature of its engine: Autocar suggests how the French brand can opt for a Aston Martin style solutionwhich has decided to equip its Valkyrie hybrid hypercar with a 6.5-liter Cosworth V12 engine.
“The hybrid heir of the Chiron will still be more surprising of Mistral, trust us – explained Bugatti’s deputy director of design, Frank Heyl – It will be surprising in terms of proportions, technology, innovation. It is a real joy to work on this project ”. Speaking of the Mistral, he then added: “If the comparisons with the LaFerrari, in reality it is a rather compact car, thanks to some changes we have made for weight balance reasons. But with a hybrid engine, and therefore having the additional weight of the batteries, we had to reconsider the architecture of the whole car ”.
