The authorities received several calls claiming that they were “struggling to breathe”
The UK Police found 12 people on Thursday in the back of a truck on a motorway near the town of Chertsey, Surrey, after receiving calls indicating that they were “struggling to breathe.”
Surrey Police said in statements to the PA Media news agency that the officers, who received the calls after 11 a.m. (local time), had no details about the truck in question. “This has meant that the police have quickly stopped several to try to identify” the one who was carrying the people in hiding.
“The correct one stopped at around 11.30 am,” added the Police, who detailed that eleven men and one woman were traveling in the truck, of whom they believe are migrants.
The agents have also explained that health personnel have checked their health and, subsequently, have been taken into police custody. Immigration services are already investigating the matter, but no arrests have been carried out so far.
