Britain’s Supreme Court is considering arguments for the possibility of a new referendum on Scottish independence from Britain.
Crown attorney Dorothy Payne, the Scottish government’s most prominent legal adviser, took the case to the Supreme Court earlier this month in order to determine whether the referendum, which Prime Minister Nicola Sturgeon plans to hold on October 19, 2023, would be within the authority or legislative capacity. for the Scottish Parliament.
