Britain | Boris Johnson is fighting for his future – HS shows a live broadcast from the question hour of the British Parliament

In the afternoon, Boris Johnson, who is downcast, will be heard during Parliament’s Question Time.

Britain’s of the prime minister Boris Johnson today, Wednesday at 14:00 Finnish time, steps in front of the parliament for question time after several of his ministers had left the government.

Chancellor of the Exchequer of the British Government Rishi Sunak and the Minister of Health Sajid Javid resigned from their positions on Tuesday, stating in their resignation letters published on Twitter that the reason for the decision was lack of confidence in Boris Johnson.

Johnson cleverly appointed new ministers, but his reign is already coming to an end, reports news agency Reuters.

On Wednesday, more high-ranking conservatives followed Johnson. British newspaper of The Guardian reported, among others, the Minister of Family Affairs Will Quince announced his resignation.

Ministers the split is just the latest in a series Johnson has struggled with over the past few months.

In recent days, Johnson’s appointment to a prominent party position in the Conservative Party has caused a stir Chris Pincher. Pincher resigned at the end of June when he was publicly accused of sexual harassment.

After the accusations, there has been a heated debate in Britain about whether Johnson knew about the accusations against Pincher when he appointed him to the post in February this year.

The row was the last staple that led to the ministers’ decision to resign.

“It is clear to me that this situation will not change under your leadership – and therefore you have lost my confidence,” former health minister Javid stated in his resignation letter.

Several ministers have said that Johnson lacks judgment and does not know how to stick to the truth.

Johnson is not popular even in his own party.

During the spring, Johnson had time to cause another uproar when it was reported that he had participated in private parties at his official residence during the corona pandemic, even though gatherings other than work were prohibited at the time. Johnson was fined for attending the party and apologized for his actions several times.

With the uproar, Johnson faced a confidence vote by the Conservative parliamentary group, which he won – but more than 40 percent of his own MPs would have wanted his leader out. However, according to party rules, Johnson does not have to worry about a new vote of confidence for a year, although some of the decision-makers have eyed the possibility of changing that rule.

On Wednesday afternoon let’s see what kind of treatment Johnson gets from his party colleagues when he steps before Parliament for his weekly question hour. Many believe that Johnson is not going to give up his grip on horses.

“I would think he will leave Downing Street [pääministerin virka-asunnosta] only carried, accompanied by a sobbing crow”, one of the Conservative Party decision-makers told Reuters on condition of anonymity. “But if the situation calls for it, we will do it that way.”

If Johnson has to give up his prime ministership, it could potentially take months to find a successor.
