The Apulians find their first success in Europe, taking advantage of the decline of the Turks after the long rest. Josh Perkins leading the way in the final
TOAST – Darussafaka 82-73
–
Brindisi keeps his Champions League hopes alive by winning his first game of the season, after three consecutive defeats, against the tough Turks Darussafaka. The start of the Happy Casa race is very complicated. The physicality of the opponents and the zone defense manage to confuse the offensive ideas of Vitucci’s men. At 10-5 of the Turks, Brindisi responds with great character, managing to play evenly even in unfavorable conditions. The 8-0 run (12 ‘, 25-16) between the first and second quarters is the treasure that Visconti and Zanelli manage to set aside from 6.75, but only for a few minutes. The return of Darussafaka is like a steamroller: at 15 ‘a half-hook from Boothe is worth the new advantage (28-29) outside. The Happy Casa remains in the wake (20 ‘, 41-43) giving extra possessions to the opponents in industrial quantities.
New face
–
In the second Brindisi has a different face: he always struggles madly to stem the opponents, who undergo an inexplicable empty pass. The Happy Casa takes advantage of this by flying at +10 (28 ‘, 59-49). The shoulders, however, are not over yet: Darussafaka settles a powerful one at the beginning of the last quarter (34 ‘, 61-58), contained with the triples of Gaspardo and Zanelli. Brindisi still has gasoline in the engine: the + 10 fails with 2’18 from the end with Gaspardo in the line before finding himself again entangled in quicksand (38 ‘, 73-69) after the usual overwhelming recovery of the Turks. It’s up to Josh Perkins with a couple of plays as a leader to secure victory and head to head.
