We return to discuss Bridge over the Strait. A catchphrase that has been going on for dozens of years, and which is back in fashion in these days: the Minister of Infrastructure Enrico Giovannini has announced that the evaluation of a new technical-economic feasibility study for the work, which could be built in the solution with several spans or in the single span solution. The Italian Railway Network will take care of the tender to assign the assignment: it is a fact that before 2026 the work will not be feasible, which is why it was excluded from the Pnrr.
As today’s edition of La Repubblica explains, the work will be subjected to two types of evaluation: the first will be the technical and sustainability one, which could in any case exclude the opportunity for construction, the one that the Ministry of Sustainable Infrastructure and Mobility continues to define as the “zero option”; if, on the other hand, construction is chosen, a public debate will subsequently be launched to evaluate the decisions to be taken. Let’s talk about a procedure that risks extending the times indefinitely. “Our request is that the works begin before the end of the legislature – commented the president of the Parliamentary Intergroup for the Bridge over the Strait, Silvia Vono – This is a strategic project for the relaunch of the South and of the whole country “. We will see how the issue develops in the coming weeks.
