The Breogán River took (94-89) against UCAM Murcia a match that had everything, that lasted two and a half hours (without extension) due to errors in possession clocks and video reviews, mainly for a tangana, and in which Dzanan Musa was once again essential for Paco Olmos’s men, who cut a series of three lossess and they inflicted the third of the season on their rival.
The match between the reveal and the fashion team was a power-to-power struggle from the initial jump to the finish. In the end, the battle, with many fronts, fell on the Lugo side.
The locals, supported by Mahalbasic and Bell-Haynes opened a gap of eight points (15-7, m.5) to finish the first quarter six up (23-17) with a basket by Sergi Quintela in the last possession.
The first ten minutes had been even in all but shots of three, with just one of seven for the visitors.
Although for problems, those of possession watches. Blackouts alternated in one basket and another and on the court it took them too long for the dolls to respond. After a minute and a half without success, Breogán went to ten points (27-17).
The time of possession indicators were switched off again in the second quarter and the game had to be stopped for a couple of minutes while they solved the problem in the Pazo. When it resumed, Czerapovicz converted seven points with two triples and a free kick and Radovic completed the comeback (30-31). Breogán coach, Paco Olmos, called a time-out and his team felt good.
At rest, and after a monumental anger from Sito Alonso for not containing Musa’s ‘eurostep’, the locals came six up (43-37) after an even set in the second quarter (20-20). Murcia signed a 23% success rate in triples, with only 4 hits in 17 attempts.
Murcia increased the intensity after passing through the changing rooms. The game was more intense, physical, contact and the losses of Breogán and robberies of the Brazilian Lima (MVP of the match), together with Davis’ baskets, drove those of Sito Alonso, than to be more than ten points away from the people of Lugo , went ahead (48-50, m.25).
A stomp from Rojas to Bell-Haynes with 52-52 (m.26) caused a tangana and the review of all the action, which lasted several minutes. Rojas was eliminated and there were unsportsmanlike actions by Quintela, Taylor and Rojas himself. Breogán missed five of eight free throws when the game resumed (56-52, m.27).
Murcia remained nailed in the 53 points and Breogán put some dirt in between (62-53, m.28), but a few good minutes from Lima sustained his team. With seven down (67-60, m.29), more controversial with unsportsmanlike by McFadden and technique for Sito Alonso. The injured third quarter was finished by a triple by Vasileiadis from home (70-65).
With the rebounds of Lima, the Murcians approached (71-69, m.32), but Breogán kept the type. A block from Sakho, Musa’s contribution (except for free throws), Kalinoski’s points and a Radovic technique brought the victory closer to the people of Lugo (81-72, m.36), that they knew how to close it even if their rival did not accept a truce.
