Brent has climbed more than 34% since February 24.

The rise comes after talks to ban the import of oil from Russia.

The price of Brent oil for delivery in May soars 12.25% this Monday in the London futures market, and exceeds 130 dollars (about 497,000 Colombian pesos) per barrel, the highest since July 21, 2008.

This new rise in Brent comes after the United States announced this weekend that it is having “very active” talks with the European Union to ban the import of oil from Russia, in a new attempt to suffocate the Russian economy in retaliation for the war in Ukraine.

The war conflict has caused a sharp rise in the price of crude oil which, after today’s rise, is close to its all-time high, above 146 dollars, reached at the beginning of July 2008. Since last Thursday, February 24 , when Russia started the conflict, Brent has climbed more than 34%.
