With a mega investment of 40 million euros, Brembo opens its first production site in Thailand. A choice that reflects the group's “strategy of expanding its industrial presence globally, allowing Brembo to seize new growth opportunities in the South-East Asia area”, explains the Group.
150 people fully operational
The new site will be built in the industrial district of reference for two-wheelers in the country, located in the province of Rayong, south of the capital Bangkok and will be intended for the creation of braking systems for motorcycle manufacturers present in the area, starting with European producers and Americans. When fully operational it will employ around 150 people.
A surface area of approximately 17 thousand square metres
In recent days, the local foundation stone laying ceremony was held, which kicked off the construction works. The production site will be operational in the first quarter of 2025, it will cover an area of approximately 17 thousand square meters, on a plot of approximately 40 thousand square meters which can expand up to 95 thousand to facilitate future expansions. The project in Thailand adds to Brembo's investments in the motorcycle market in recent years, in particular the acquisitions of Sbs Friction in Denmark and J.Juan in Spain which took place between 2020 and 2021, which allowed the group to complete the offer of products dedicated to two wheels. The motorcycle business is now worth around 13% of Brembo's total revenues.
“The opening of the new production site in Thailand represents a crucial step in our global expansion strategy,” explains Daniele Schillaci, CEO of Brembo. “We are strengthening ourselves in the two-wheel segment that is key for us and consolidating Brembo's role as a solution provider for our customers operating in the country. With this investment we lay the foundations for further development of our business in the Asean region.”
