Wilbur Smith’s career
Wilbur Addison Smith was born in Broken Hill, in Zambia, January 9, 1933. Of British descent, he graduated in commercial science in 1954. After that he worked as a accountant until 1958.
Always a lover of writing, his first works were not immediately successful. Several South African and European publishing houses refused to publish his books, until a London publisher did not decide to give it confidence.
From there it has been a relentless rise to success. His books, hundreds of them, have sold in all 140 million copies worldwide.
His works focus on everything he knew and loved best: the forest, wild animals, rugged mountains, the rolling hills of Natal, the ocean, the life of the indigenous people, the history of the discovery of southern Africa, the long and troubled road towards the abandonment ofapartheid and the return to the international community.
Yes is married 4 times, but only with his last wife, almost 40 years younger, did he find serenity. I had three children, born from previous marriages, with which he had broken off relations following his last marriage.
