Information was confirmed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira, after telephone negotiations with his Israeli counterpart. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, Mauro Vieira, stated this Friday (03/11) that the 34 citizens – 24 Brazilians and ten Palestinians who want to immigrate – who are awaiting authorization to leave the Gaza Strip – must cross the border into Egypt by next Wednesday.
According to Vieira, negotiations advanced after telephone conversations with Israel’s Foreign Minister, Eli Cohen.
“I had a telephone conversation, the fourth, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel, Eli Cohen, and he assured me that by Wednesday all Brazilians who are in Gaza will be able to leave through the Rafah crossing,” the chancellor told reporters , highlighting that the release could still occur before this deadline, although the guarantee was given for next Wednesday.
Access to Egypt, according to Vieira, must be provided by the Brazilian embassies in Ramallah, in the West Bank, and also in Egypt, from where Brazilians are expected to board a Brazilian Air Force (FAB) plane that has already is in the country.
“It was a process of conversation, of negotiation that lasted a few days and, today, I had this good news”, he highlighted.
