Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro affirmed that strengthening his country’s relations with the United Arab Emirates has positively contributed to increasing the demand for Brazilian startups.
This came in a series of tweets on his official Twitter page, in which he confirmed that an Emirati company search program is looking for startups with projects related to sectors such as energy, water, design, architecture, transportation, logistics and the sustainable economy.
The President of Brazil indicated that the application process for the “Sharjah Global Accelerator for Advanced Industry Technologies Program” will continue until August 16.
He pointed out that twenty Brazilian startups were selected from among the candidates who registered for free, and will compete for a prize given to the best projects.
Bolsonaro added that the interest in technology-based companies is a way to reduce dependence on the oil and gas sector in the UAE.
He emphasized that the interest in emerging projects is also a way to bring in technology support for large countries in the Middle East, which lack these resources.
Bolsonaro stated that Brazilian companies are increasingly growing in global markets and attributed this to the support and stimulus provided to this sector, which is growing in a very positive way in Brazil through the new legal framework for startups provided by the federal government.
