The Brazilian Football Confederation decided to postpone the next two rounds of the local league competition as a result of the floods that struck the country. The Brazilian Football Confederation explained in a statement that based on its approval of the request of 15 out of 20 clubs in the first division to suspend the season, it stated, “We cannot forget that sports and society go hand in hand, and they cannot be separated in these difficult times for the Brazilian people.”
The statement added, “The suspension does not apply to the rest of the competitions and will be lifted on May 28.”
