RIO DE JANEIRO (Reuters) – This Tuesday, Brazil registered 442 new deaths from Covid-19, bringing the total number of fatal victims of the disease in the country to 606,246, according to the Ministry of Health.
There were also 13,424 new cases of coronaviruses, with the total number of confirmed infections in the country advancing to 21,748,984, added the folder.
In absolute terms, Brazil is the second country with the highest number of deaths from the disease, behind only the United States, and the third in case count, below the USA and India.
The country, however, has registered a reduction in pandemic numbers on average over the past few weeks, as it advances in its vaccination campaign against Covid-19.
The moving average of daily deaths for the past 14 days was on Tuesday at 346, compared with a peak of nearly 3,000 in April.
According to data from the Ministry of Health, 116.2 million Brazilians were immunized with both doses or a single dose vaccine, while 153.9 million took at least the first dose.
The federal government still reports 198,651 Covid-19 patients under follow-up.
