SAO PAULO (Reuters) – This Monday, Brazil registered 745 new deaths as a result of Covid-19, which brings the total number of fatal victims of the disease in the country to 534,233, according to the Ministry of Health.
17,031 new cases of coronavirus were also reported, representing the lowest daily count since Jan. 2, when 15,827 cases were reported, according to the folder. The total number of confirmed infections in the country rose to 19,106,971.
On Sundays and Mondays, the numbers of cases and deaths by Covid-19 in Brazil tend to be below the averages normally recorded, since tests are dammed up on weekends.
In global and absolute terms, Brazil is the second country with the highest number of deaths from the disease, behind only the United States, and the third in case count, below the USA and India.
The Brazilian state most affected by Covid-19 in absolute terms, São Paulo this Monday reached the marks of 3,869,300 cases and 132,205 deaths.
The federal government still reports 17,666,654 people recovered from Covid-19 and 906,084 patients in follow-up.
