According to the Tendências survey, classes D and E are made up of households with a monthly income of up to R$ 2,800.
According to the g1, from the beginning of the 2000s until the middle of the last decade, the country saw the strengthening of the C class and seemed to consolidate as a middle class economy – in 2004, 64% of the households were part of the D and E classes. , while 22.4% belonged to the C class group.
However, the recession of 2014 and 2016 and the economic effects caused by the coronavirus pandemic stopped this process. Last year, the share of households in classes D and E reached 51.6%.
