SAO PAULO (Reuters) – Brazil recorded this Sunday over 6,761 new cases of infections by Covid-19 and the disease caused the deaths of over 130 people, according to data released by the Ministry of Health.
The numbers bring the total of infections by Covid-19 in the country to 21,810,855 and the number of people who died as a result of the new coronavirus to 607,824, indicated the data released by the folder.
In absolute terms, Brazil is the second country with the highest number of deaths from the disease, behind only the United States, and the third in case count, below the USA and India.
The country, however, has registered a reduction in pandemic indicators on average in recent weeks, as it advances in its vaccination campaign against Covid-19.
Also according to figures released by the Ministry of Health, 20,996,772 people contracted Covid-19 and recovered in Brazil and there are still 206,259 patients under observation.
