Ciudad Juarez.- A goal by Sebastián Córdova in the 85th minute was enough for the Tigres de la UANL to defeat the Bravos de Juárez 1-0, who added the seventh defeat of the Apertura 2024 of the Liga MX and consolidates themselves as the worst team with just four points out of 27 possible. In this match, Panamanian José Luis Rodríguez ‘El Puma’ made his debut, who entered in the 77th minute in place of Dieter Villalpando, and although he looked willing, he did not make a difference and could do little to avoid the defeat of the border squad. The pupils of the Brazilian coach Mauricio Barbieri were not able to complete a good pass on offense, at least one that would leave a teammate with a chance to score a goal or that would make goalkeeper Nahuel Guzmán work hard. In the defensive zone, they compromised the ball more than once due to that desire to play from their own field and on at least two occasions they gave away corner kicks without any need. At 40 minutes into the second half, Gignac took the ball from the left, sent in a cross that no Bravos defender was able to block, allowing Córdova to finish past goalkeeper Benny Díaz to score the only goal of the match. The first half went by without much fanfare, with few scoring opportunities at either end. Among the highlights was a play by Diego Campillo, including a tunnel, which ended with a shot from outside the area that went over Nahuel’s goal. Both teams insisted on playing from their own half, but risking the ball unnecessarily or giving it to the opponent in less than ten seconds. Near the end of the first half, Bravos’ goalkeeper, Benny Díaz, almost got into trouble when he tried to outwit an opponent, but it was only a slight scare and the reproach of the fans. As an anecdote, the person in charge of doing it forgot to put batteries in the electronic board, which did not turn on when they wanted to announce how many minutes they were going to add. Next Friday, the Bravos visit the Camoteros del Puebla.
