In Texas, USA, a 13-year-old boy driving a pickup truck collided with a van carrying a college golf team. The accident caused the death of nine people.
According to the authorities’ report, six young people from the University of the Southwest, based in New Mexico, lost their lives along with their coach.
The minor and his 38-year-old father, who was traveling with him in the truck, also died.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said the Dodge 2500 truck went into the wrong lane causing the accident.. After the crash, both vehicles caught fire.
According to the local media ‘KWES TV’, the vice president of the National Transportation Safety Board, Bruce Landsberg, commented that the 13-year-old was the one who was driving at the time.

According to the official, the minor violated Texas law, since in the state only 15-year-olds are allowed to drive with an older adult next to them who has a valid license.

He also assured that, apparently, the truck’s left front tire could have exploded before the crash, perhaps causing them to drift into the other lane.
