Bowling Ani Juntunen and Peppi Konsteri guaranteed Finland the World Bowling Medal – “I don’t even understand this yet”

The medal is the first for both at the World Cup level.

Finland Ani Juntunen and Peppi Consters secured the World Bowling Medal on Tuesday as the duo advanced to the semi-finals of the Women’s Doubles Championships in Dubai. Juntunen and Konsteri defeated Malaysia in their semi-final match Natasha Roslanin and Faten Najihahin in the numbers 278–256.

In the bowling value competitions, the semi-finals guarantee at least a bronze medal, but the Finnish duo are aiming for an even brighter achievement in Saturday’s decision-making games. German pair Janin Ribguth / Martina Schütz will face the semi-finals.

“We still don’t even realize that we are among the top four. However, this is not enough, and on Saturday we will start to win the semi-finals and a gold medal, ”said 25-year-old Juntunen In the Bowling Association’s press release.

For both Juntunen and Konster, the medal is the first career career at the World Championships.

Only 17-year-old Konsteri grabbed five medals earlier this year in the Junior European Championships and now showed a strong competition head in the Adult World Championships as well. Konsteri secured the Finns’ semi-final victory by making two knocks at the end and knocking down nine bowls in their last throw.

“Damn good feeling. Before the semi-finals, we agreed to go and enjoy and make both five good squares, and we got an eight-fold queue, ”Konsteri said.

Juntunen and Konsteri represent Pori Giants at the club level.

Tuesday began in Dubai with a continuation of the women’s and men’s doubles competitions, where the top 32 pairs were divided into four blocks for eight teams. Juntunen and Konsteri bowled their blocks to number one, and also Mila Nevalainen and Eliisa Hiltunen were close to the semi-finals, finishing third in their own block.

In the men’s race Kimmo Lehtonen and Juho Rissanen divided their blocks into second place and advanced to a rematch with the Americans Andrew Anderson and Kris Pather however, were stronger in numbers 254–202. Those who played in the same block Tomas Käyhkön and Niko Oksasen the day was more sticky, resulting in the last place in the block.

The sequel to the single will be played in Dubai on Wednesday. Among the Finns are Konsteri, Käyhkö and Oksanen.
