Businessman declares that he will not compete in the 2nd round with current mayor Ricardo Nunes (MDB) because he was criticized by right-wing figures
Defeated candidate for Mayor of São Paulo in the 1st round, Pablo Marcal (PRTB) said this Tuesday (8.Oct.2024) that he believes that the federal deputy Guilherme Boulos (Psol) will win the elections with the help of 45% of its voters.
According to the businessman, this portion of the São Paulo electorate is in peripheral regions where the president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) won in 2022. For him, their support will be directed to Boulos, supported by Lula. “Boulos, in my view, before entering the election, would win this dispute. Now I’m sure he wins.”he declared.
“By not going anywhere and freeing my electorate, Lula will humbly take back 45% of my votes. I’m sure he [Boulos] wins. He knows how to communicate with the people and Ricardo [Nunes] You don’t know, Boulos and Lula have the people’s language, the others just fight. Malafaia is so out of control that today he called the [ex-presidente Jair] Bolsonaro is a coward”declared in a lecture in Barueri, metropolitan region of São Paulo.
Marçal also linked his defeat in the 1st round to the lack of support and repeated criticism from right-wing figures. He cited pastor Silas Malafaia, the governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), the current mayor Ricardo Nunes (MDB), the former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and the federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL).
Recall criticisms of the businessman:
The candidate had 28.14% of the votes in the 1st round. It was close to Nunes (29.48%) and Boulos (29.07%). He conditioned his support for Nunes on a request for his retraction and adherence to his proposals for education in the capital of São Paulo. Said this would only happen “by miracle”because the opponents do not have “humility”.
Pastor Silas Malafaia has criticized the businessman on social media and also former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL). Marçal told him to leave his church “for 28 days, because they [a campanha de Nunes e aliados] they will need you here. You’ll have to find a vote for us [a direita] not lose this election”.
The businessman reaffirmed that his “mission” is to fight on the side of those who fight against the “communism”in reference to left-wing governments and, without mentioning him by name, Guilherme Boulos. Marçal, however, conditioned his support for the current mayor
