The third and final day of the pre-season tests in Barcelona will leave all the Formula 1 teams and drivers in the evening, who will then return to Bahrain for the second test session between 10 and 13 March. A ‘goodbye’ that will have a different flavor only for theAlfa Romeo, the only team still missing for the official presentation of its new car for 2022, scheduled for February 27th. In anticipation of this event, Valtteri Bottas however, he was able to complete his first km at the wheel of the Swiss single-seater, with the Finn who pointed out the substantial differences between his new home and Mercedes, a team with which he had played until the previous season.
Number 77, during the press conference in Montemeló, reported these aspects, also dwelling on the problems accused by Alfa Romeo during the first days of testing: “The difference from the Mercedes is significant – commented – the team is smaller, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing, even if I have to know all the team members. In general, the sensations are positive, but I would have preferred to stay on track for longer. It is no mystery that we weren’t able to cover all the km we wanted. We had problems that we couldn’t solve overnight. As far as porpoising is concerned, I must admit that it is insidious, because you suddenly lose load and even the braking is disrupted. I think it’s relatively new to everyone and the teams are still learning how to manage it. In addition, I must say that I feel better with the new tires than the ones I had fitted in Abu Dhabi. There the problem was the graining, but here it is not particularly evident ”.
In conclusion, Bottas expressed his opinion on other topical topics, also and above all of an extra-sporting nature: “What you hear about what is happening in Ukraine is crazy – he added – there are people who are losing their lives, and still others their homes. I hope that the situation can improve in the coming months. As for F1, and more specifically Masi, his was not an easy job, and everyone makes mistakes. However, as of today I still don’t know the new referees ”.
