A new business unit of the Bosch Group will take care of the development of operations related to quantum sensors. The German company thus intends to engage in a. a rapidly expanding sector through a specialized division that will be able to make the most of the years of research carried out by the group. Quantum technology is pushing the boundaries of what’s possible – said Jens Fabrowsky, executive vice president of Bosch Automotive Electronics, responsible for the semiconductor business – both in data processing and in sensors. Above all, the goal is to increase the great practical benefit of quantum effects in various possible applications such as traction systems for motor vehicles, or in medicine in neurological diagnosis.
“Bosch has been conducting extensive research in quantum sensing for many years and we see ourselves as a world leader in this area – he continued – Now we want to start from this base to develop future business models “. At the head of the new startup there will be Katrin Kobe who has over 25 years of experience as a manager in technology companies and a doctorate in physics. “At Bosch, research is a top priority” – said Kobe – “As a global company with collaborations and expertise in quantum technology, in the agile environment of a startup, Bosch is seizing the opportunity to make progress in this new and promising field”. Currently 15 employees are already working in the new business unit. The team, which is expected to grow in the coming months, is looking to attract, in particular, engineers and business developers.
