The story of Ilka Brühl affected by a rare genetic disease and who has overcome all prejudices by deciding to appear fearless.
Say goodbye to any prejudice and show yourself as you are. The story of Ilka Brühl it is truly a life lesson that absolutely must be told. The young German girl was born with theectodermal dysplasia, a rare congenital malformation of the face, and with an absent tear duct. This condition of hers has forced her to undergo several surgeries over the years.
The childhood of Ilka it wasn’t easy because at school her peers continually teased her and she wanted so much to become invisible. Then there was a precise moment in her life that she decided to say enough and to live it all without problems and without hiding.
It was in 2012 when some photographer friends convinced her to pose for them in some shots. Ilka again tells the first time on the set.
“Along the way I was often on the verge of turning around and going back, such was the fear that the photographer would laugh at me once seen live” – his story. And instead that moment was a real turning point since the response of those who viewed those shots was very positive.
This has done nothing but increase the girl’s self-esteem by convincing her to find courage and to show herself more and more as she was.
“There is only one way to be ugly: to have a bad temper! Nobody has to hide because of their appearance… Because each of us is beautiful!”. His is a story of redemption and courage that is worth telling.
Today Ilka is a world-famous author. She manages on social networks a podcasts where by telling his story he also invites others to see their own beauty and to accept themselves for who they are.
“I think EVERYONE is beautiful in their own way. I often read comments like “You are not cute just because you are different” it is absolutely not true! I’m pretty because EVERYONE is pretty. It doesn’t matter if you are a classic, tall, petite, stocky, slim, black, white beauty”- he wrote on Instagram.
