Casa Real responds to the new president of Chile who followed Chilean protocol and security instructions at all times
The new president of Chile, Gabriel Boric, has attributed to a delay in the arrival of King Felipe VI the fact that his inauguration ceremony last Friday began fifteen minutes late and has considered it “unacceptable”.
«I found it quite unacceptable that the ceremony was delayed because the King of Spain had been late. But hey, these are things that happen », he commented this Monday night in an interview on channel T13, emphasizing that « one has to respect the established protocols ».
Don Felipe was present at Boric’s inauguration accompanied by the second vice president, Yolanda Díaz, the Minister for Equality, Irene Montero, and the president of the Senate, Ander Gil, and held two meetings with the new and outgoing president, Sebastián Piñera, during his stay in Chile.
Boric stressed that at that time all the attention of Chileans was on him and his “gestures” during the presidential relay ceremony that took place at the headquarters of the National Congress, in Valparaiso.
Chilean protocol
In a statement, the Royal House of Spain has assured that the monarch complied with the instructions of those responsible for Protocol in Chile and that the Spanish caravan, like many others, had to wait a long time standing still.
“We follow the Chilean protocol and security indications at all times, which are the ones who set the pace of arrival of the caravans. In fact, the caravan with the Spanish delegation was waiting in line behind others until protocol and security gave the instruction that it could be accessed, “he added.
Prior to the ceremony, Chilean television reported that a change had been made to the official photos of Boric and his ministers, and Boric and the governors, because two of his ministers had arrived late at Cerro Castillo “due to a traffic jam.” .
