A bombing left at least 25 people dead and another 20 injured in the city of Donetsk, a city in the east of the European country that is under Russian control. The case was confirmed by local authorities this Sunday (21 January 2023). The information is from the newspaper Sputnik.
According to Denis Pushilin, head of the authorities installed by Russia in the city, the attack hit several stores this Sunday, the busiest day in the area. He also stated that the bombing was carried out by Ukrainian military personnel.
Earlier, Pushilin had recorded 13 deaths and 10 injuries, but in a new statement he revised the number upwards. Emergency services are still working at the scene.
In a statement, the Russian Foreign Ministry described the attack as a “terrorist attack” and stated that it demonstrates the “lack of political will [ucraniana] to achieve peace and resolve this conflict through diplomatic means.”
