After criticizing the information that the federal government had refused humanitarian aid from Argentina for flood victims in Bahia, Jair Bolsonaro decided to explain the controversial decision and said that the aid was not needed, but indicated that the support could be used in the future.

According to the administration, the Argentine consulate offered material assistance with ten professionals specialized in logistics, water, sanitation and psychosocial support for victims of natural disasters.

This Thursday (30), Bolsonaro thanked the help, but indicated that the type of assistance offered by the Argentine government is the same provided by the Civil Defense and the Armed Forces in the region.
Yesterday (29), senator Randolfe Rodrigues (Rede-AP) said that he will summon the minister of Foreign Affairs, Carlos França, to explain the government’s decision. No Twitter, Randolfe ainda criticou as férias de Bolsonaro que, segundo ele, está usando dinheiro público para momentos de lazer enquanto as vítimas da Bahia estão desassistidas.
“We will summon the Minister of Foreign Affairs to give explanations to the representative commission in the Senate and we will represent the TCU [Tribunal de Contas da União] for the president to return to the treasury the money he is using on his ‘holidays’ and for this money to be destined for victims in Bahia”, said the senator this Wednesday (29).

The federal government announced on Tuesday (28) that R$ 80 million would be released to help restore federal roads that cross the state. Governor Rui Costa (PT) claims that the amount is insufficient and that at least R$ 400 million would be needed for reconstruction.
