Candidate for reelection says at a rally that his opponent, former president Lula (PT), “will go back to jail”
President and candidate for re-election, Jair Bolsonaro (PL), announced this Thursday (13.Oct.2022) that the government will relieve the payroll of the health area. The Chief Executive stated that he had suggested the proposal to Minister Paulo Guedes (Economy).
“There are 17 sectors that have already been released and he [Guedes] said that I could advertise the Health. The impact is compatible”, Bolsonaro told a group of mayors and evangelical pastors in Recife (PE).
Bolsonaro also said that the measure would be “another sign for the nursing floor in Brazil, which the Federal Supreme Court decided to bar”.
The government extended the exemption for 17 sectors of the economy until the end of 2023. According to the president, the initial idea of the economic team was to extend it for just 1 year. The measure allows companies to replace the social security contribution, of 20% on employees’ salaries, with a rate on gross revenue, which varies from 1% to 4.5%.
The president’s announcement was made inside a hotel in the neighborhood of Boa Viagem, in the capital of Pernambuco. Soon after, he spoke in trio Elétrico on the outside. The images released by the president’s official profile at the time he was speaking show the surroundings of the podium empty and a small crowd concentrated in front of Bolsonaro.
To supporters, the president said that his opponent, the former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT), will be defeated in the 2nd round of the election. The tone rose: “A thief’s place is in jail”. Bolsonaro also said that PT received the most votes from prisoners in Brazil.
