President Jair Bolsonaro pointed out this Wednesday, 24, that his candidate for the government of São Paulo will be the minister of Infrastructure, Tarcísio Freitas. “Looks like it’s him. Looks like you got it right”, he replied, laughing, when asked about the matter during an interview for the channel ISTV.
The launch of a candidacy in the largest electoral college in the country was the main impasse for the president’s affiliation to the Liberal Party (PL). The acronym had an agreement to support in 2022 the deputy governor of São Paulo, Rodrigo Garcia (PSDB), name sponsored by São Paulo governor João Doria (PSDB), Bolsonaro’s political archrival. The situation led the president to suspend membership of the PL, initially scheduled for the 22nd.
With the imbroglio resolved and the endorsement given by the party’s leadership to the chief executive for Tarcisio’s candidacy, Bolsonaro will make his membership official on the 30th. “When I present the name, the name has already been defined, people will accept it. It is doing a great job in our government”, said the president about the minister.
He even again denied that he had exchanged insults with the national president of the PL, Valdemar da Costa Neto, when he decided to postpone his membership.
“We have a very good relationship with Valdemar. There was no exchange of accusations, just exchange of zap. We needed to get half a dozen states right, including São Paulo. I said: ‘Valdemar, it’s the state with the highest density, we have to have something right. I have a possible candidate for governor for São Paulo. If I don’t get this candidate right, this marriage won’t work out’”, he reported.
PEC of Precatório
Bolsonaro criticized left-wing parties, such as the PT, and Novo, which stands for the acronym of the right, for having voted against the PEC dos Precatórios, which makes room in the spending ceiling for payment of installments of R$ 400 of Auxílio Brasil until the end of 2022, the year the president will seek re-election.
“A few days ago the press showed a truck of bones and people getting bones. Who caught? Me. We, to assist these people, are going to double the Bolsa Família. The same ones who criticized are now against the court orders because the condition to pay the R$ 400 is to approve the payment of these orders in installments. We regret that the PT, a leftist party that talks so much that I have no heart for the poor, when it comes to doubling the value, it is against it”, he said.
international isolation
Bolsonaro also countered criticism that he would be isolated in relations with other countries, while his possible main opponent at the polls in 2022, former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), started a successful tour of Europe. He said he received “VIP treatment” during the recent mission to Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates.
“Two, three months ago, he was elected to a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council. 190 countries voted, 181 voted for my candidate. How bad am I? We recently decided on the issue of a Human Rights Forum. From 24 countries voting, 19 voted for our candidate”, he defended.
“My treatment was VIP in Dubai. I made a point of showing the three hotels where I stayed. Daily average 45 thousand reais. Why did I stay in this room? Courtesy for me and for our entourage”, he pointed out.
