President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) took office on Wednesday, 8, who expected Sergio Moro (Podemos) – his likely rival in the 2022 elections – to interfere in investigating bodies as the government’s justice minister.
“This guy did absolutely nothing to prevent Coaf and Revenue from snooping around my life and that of the Brazilians,” declared the Chief Executive in an interview with Gazeta do Povo. “Can you investigate the president? It can, but legally”, he amended.

According to Bolsonaro, Moro, while minister, “selected” the actions of the Federal Police. “I wanted to send them away back there. But as he had great prestige, it was difficult to justify”, said the president.
Bolsonaro even revealed a dialogue with the former ally. He would have questioned him about the PF’s investigations into the then Minister of Tourism Marcelo Álvaro Antônio, involved in an orange candidacy scheme in the 2018 elections. “Why is the PF investigating this minister who was a candidate?” , according to himself. “Why aren’t you investigating others, it’s just to burn the government down,” he would have added.
