The president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, was hospitalized this morning in the Vila Nova Star hospital south of Sao Paulo for suspected intestinal obstruction after experiencing abdominal pain during the holidays in Santa Caterina. “I started feeling sick after Sunday lunch, arrived at the hospital at 3:00 am today. They put me on a nasogastric tube. Further tests will be done for possible surgery for internal obstruction in the abdominal region,” Bolsonaro writes on Twitter, posting a photo from the hospital bed.
“This is the second hospitalization with the same symptoms, following the stabbing” immediately in September 2018 “and 4 surgeries”, adds the president, who awaits the outcome of the visit with Professor Antonio Luiz Macedo, the surgeon who the president has already operated.
Bolsonaro was flown by helicopter and will undergo diagnostic tests to find the exact cause of his discomfort. Accompanying him in flight were his wife Michelle Bolsonaro and daughter Laura, who landed during the night in Congonhas. The Brazilian president was last hospitalized on July 14, 2020 to treat intestinal subocclusion.
