Russian skier Alexander Bolshunov finished fifth in skiathlon at the World Cup in cross-country skiing in Lahti, Finland. Results are available on website International Ski Federation (FIS).
Bolshunov lost to the Norwegians who returned to participate in the World Cup. The winner was Emil Iversen, who completed the race in one hour, 10 minutes and 18.4 seconds. The second place was taken by Shur Rete, 0.4 seconds behind Iversen. Paul Gulberg finished third, 6.6 seconds back.
The Lahti World Cup stage was the first for the Norwegians this season. In December last year, the Norwegian national team announced the withdrawal of the team from the tournament due to fear of the coronavirus. The team did not race in Davos, Switzerland, Dresden, Germany, and the Tour de Ski in January 2021.
This season, Bolshunov won the Tour de Ski. The victory in the tournament was the second in his career.
