The Slovenian team rider Tadi Bogacar continued his brilliance in the journey to defend the title in the Tour de France, and won the seventh stage of the race. Bogachar, who has been crowned Tour de France champion in the past two editions, put in a strong display and made a great effort, defeating his rival Jonas Venegaard, in a strong and exciting end to the seventh stage.
With this, Pogachar won two consecutive stages in the race, consolidated his lead in the general ranking of the race in the current edition, and kept the yellow shirt that he will wear in the eighth stage. Pogacar won the seventh stage, the first mountainous stage of the tour, which was held on a 176.5 km track, from Tomblin to the top of Mount Blanche de Bell, during which the Slovenian cyclist outperformed the Danish Venegaard, and the other Slovenian Primoz Roglic, the two stars of the Jumbo Visma team, who occupied The second and third places, respectively, at this stage. Pogachara consolidated his lead in the general classification of the race in this round, widening the difference with Venegaard, who is second in the standings.
Commenting on the victory, Tade Bogachar said: “It was a difficult race, especially in the last part of the climb, when Jonas took off in an attacking performance. A foundation concerned with fighting cancer, and I wore special shoes for this occasion.
“Winning this stage is one of my goals for the Tour since the Tour de France route was announced for 2022, and I managed to achieve it and make some progress in timing, but that advantage will not be enough with tough competitors like Venegaard who is one of the best climbing riders in the world.”
