BMW is preparing to introduce several innovations to its Italian range starting from spring 2022. Alongside the new arrivals already announced, such as the new 8 Series, the M8, the iX M60 and the special edition BMW X2 Goldplay, from March 2022, new model variants will expand the offer of the BMW 2 Series Coupé and the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer. The first will in fact add to its line-up a version equipped with the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine with an output of 245 hp and a maximum torque of 400 Nm. The new engine is combined with an 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission as standard. The range of equipment and functions includes shift paddles on the steering wheel and Launch Control, which enables the new BMW 230i Coupé to accelerate from a standstill to 100 km / h in 5.9 seconds. Among other things, an M sport differential in the final drive is available as an option for the new model variant. Versatile functionality, driving pleasure and dynamic design characterize the second generation of the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer, which will also be available with intelligent all-wheel drive from March 2022. The new BMW 223i xDrive Active Tourer is the fifth variant of the modern all-rounder in the premium compact segment. Its BMW xDrive system transfers the power of the 4-cylinder petrol engine with 48-volt mild hybrid technology to all four wheels as needed. The drive of the new BMW 223i xDrive Active Tourer delivers 160 kW / 218 hp, which is jointly generated by the combustion engine up to 150 kW / 204 hp and the electric unit up to 14 kW / 19 hp. The auxiliary electric drive contributes to a particularly spontaneous acceleration response. The new variant of the model sprints from a standstill to 100 km / h in 6.9 seconds.
There new bodywork in Piedmont Red metallic will also be available for the new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer from March 2022. In addition, the functions of the optional Driving Assistant Plus have been expanded to include Steering and Lane Guidance Assist. The system assists the driver in maintaining the lane up to a speed of 180 km / h. Steering Assistance also ensures that an adequate distance is maintained from lane lines and vehicles in the adjacent lane when driving in tight spaces, for example on motorway construction sites. In addition, the Driving Assistant Plus includes Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function and automatic Speed Limit Assist. This is based on the Speed Limit Info system with advance display of speed limits and no overtaking signs.
The range of optional driver assistance systems will also be expanded for BMW X3 and BMW X4 models starting from spring 2022. Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function will be available for the Sports Activity Vehicle and Sports Activity Coupé in the mid-size premium class from April 2022. Unlike Cruise Control already fitted as standard with function braking, not only keeps the desired speed constant between 30 and 160 km / h, but also the distance to the vehicles in front, which can be selected by the driver in four steps. The distance control is carried out via a radar sensor integrated in the front bumper and, if necessary, decelerates the vehicle to a stop. The range of functions also includes automatic restart after short intermediate stops of up to three seconds. In addition, the system offers the driver the option of adopting the speed limits recorded by the Systems Speed Limit Info traffic sign recognition system as the new desired speed at the push of a button.
The BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe will also offer numerous additional options for exterior and interior customization from March 2022. These are also available for the all-electric BMW i4 and include new body finishes and leather upholstery as well as an exterior package. M Carbon. In the cockpit of the BMW i4 and of the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé, customers have the option of choosing a particularly high-quality trim level with BMW Individual Merino leather upholstery in Black, Ivory White, Tartufo, Fjord Blue / Black and Fiona Red / Black. For an even more exclusive ambience, the BMW Individual Merino leather interior, available in the same colors, also includes the leather upholstery of the dashboard. Furthermore, as of March 2022, individual stylistic preferences for the interior can also be satisfied thanks to the special upholstery from the BMW Individual program. The BMW iX strengthens its status as a technological flagship with the premiere of a new and unique automated parking system. Available from March 2022 for all model variants, the Parking Assistant Professional allows you to park comfortably in automated driving mode.
Using GPS and trajectory data defined by the steering movements, the system can memorize several maneuvers with a path length of up to 200 meters each. When you get back to the respective starting point, the Parking Assistant Professional can then take over the complete driving task, including acceleration, braking, steering and forward and reverse gear shifting. The driver can concentrate on monitoring his surroundings during the automated maneuver. BMW Individual Oxid Gray Metallic paint and 22-inch M aerodynamic wheels in two-tone titanium bronze with 3D high-gloss finish are new in the equipment range for all model variants of the BMW iX. My BMW App is the universal communication interface between the driver, the vehicle, the BMW brand and the BMW dealer. In the spring of 2022, its range of functions will be expanded to include BMW Charging’s digital services for a comfortable experience of electric mobility.
