“Blonde”, the biographical film about Marilyn Monroe starring Ana de Armas, has not convinced critics or audiences during its premiere in selected cinemas. Despite receiving a 14-minute ovation at the Venice Film Festival, his early reviews on Rotten Tomatoes are not encouraging at all just one day after its arrival on Netflix.
The applause at the Italian film meeting —one of the most important in the world— seemed to have put an end to the controversy regarding the choice of Armas for the leading role, but now the film is once again in the eye of the storm.
The biopic directed by Andrew Dominik -which lasts almost 3 hours- has only been shown in a few cinemas in the world, but that alone has been enough to earn a rating of 51% by critics and 47% by the public.
