Although there will no longer be an event, Blizzard promised to give announcements and updates to its games in development.
Blizzard has had some really tough times in recent months. The departure of its president, in addition to accusations surrounding a hostile culture towards women, caused a slow collapse that continues to this day. Now, the company has announced the cancellation of your annual event, BlizzConline 2022, which was to take place in February of that year.
We are committed to communicating with our playersBlizzardThe news was spread through a letter to the community, where it is mentioned, that the event needs a lot time and energy by everyone involved. Instead, Blizzard will use its resources to “support teams and the progress of all games and experiences.”
Adding to this news, the company took the opportunity to mention what we can expect from future BlizzCon events. “We are committed to communicate continuously with our players, and we see BlizzCon playing a very big role in the future, “the statement reads.
No matter what the event throws at it for years to come, Blizzard will make sure it feels as safe and inclusive as possible. It was also mentioned in the statement, that despite not having BlizzConline 2022, there will be no shortage of advertisements of titles that are in development.
Blizzard mentioned a few months ago, that BlizzCon would be held in digital format for a while, because the face-to-face event involves many difficulties. We don’t know if the next BlizzCon they announce will be online, but seeing as the petition to suspend the harassment trial was recently denied, it might take a while to learn about the future of the event.
