Blizzard has revealed what theirs is new president: Johanna FariesActivision Blizzard's first new leader since Microsoft purchased the company.
The information was also shared by Bloomgber who explains: “Faries, previously general manager of the Call of Duty franchise at Activision, will succeed Mike Ybarra, who left the company last week following mass layoffs. Faries began working for Activision in 2018 as head of Call of Duty esports. He previously worked for nearly 12 years at the National Football League.”
The journalist continues: “La appointment of an Activision executive as head of Blizzard it may come as a surprise to many employees. Prior to the acquisition, the World of Warcraft maker had faced significant tension with Activision executives over game development times, among other issues. Former Activision CEO Bobby Kotick had pushed Blizzard to be more predictable, like the Call of Duty franchise, which releases a new version of the series every fall.”

Faries wrote to staff that “Activision, Blizzard, and King are distinctly different companies with distinct games, cultures, and communities.”
“It's important to note that the way Call of Duty wakes up in the morning to offer players its products can often differ from the breathtaking games of the Blizzard kingdom: each of them has different gameplay experiences, communities surrounding them and models of necessary success,” Faries wrote. “I have discussed this with Blizzard's leadership team and am stepping into this role with sensitivity to these dynamics and deep respect for Blizzard as we begin to explore the possibility of taking our universes to even greater heights.”
