US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken thanked UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres for the UN’s commitment to delivering aid to Ukraine despite the dangerous and difficult circumstances.
This came during Blinken’s talks with Guterres, according to a statement issued by the US State Department’s spokesman’s office on Thursday, local time.
“Blinken spoke about the Russian attack on Ukraine, which came pre-conceived and designed and without any provocation or justification,” said the statement, a copy of which reached the German news agency (dpa) today.
“Blinken stressed the importance of ensuring the safety and security of humanitarian workers,” the statement continued.
For his part, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced, on Thursday, that the attack on Ukraine aims to disarm it and stop the progress of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
Pointing out that Russia does not plan to occupy Ukraine.
