Black Widow came to Disney Plus to tell us about an unpublished adventure of Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff. As it is the first film in phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, expectations were high and the result has been something to talk about on social networks.
The film received harsh criticism that classified it as a consolation award disguised as a tribute. For actor Stephen Dorff, it was comparable to a poorly made video game. However, no blunder in the film caused as much anger as the Taskmaster adaptation.
The villain, played by Olga Kurylenko, had a very different origin and motivations than his counterpart in the comics. As if this were not enough, it seems that he died in the final battle, preventing Marvel from claiming the character in the future.
On the Phase Zero podcast, screenwriter Eric Pearson revealed that he received harsh criticism and even threats on his social media for the modifications he made to the popular comic book villain.
“I made the mistake of going into direct message requests and someone said, I don’t want to be out of line, but Taskmaster was the biggest betrayal of my life. And I was like: so you’ve had a pretty good life. If that’s the worst thing that ever happened to you, then you should be psyched up, ”he said.
After that, he delved deeper into this decision and explained why it was better if all the characters were closely related to Natasha Romanoff:
“I was thinking. I was like … this guy can’t just be a bully. I did not want it. Because Dreykov and the Red Room is that thing that is tied to Natasha’s personality and her past. A gigantic spy station is circling the globe in its atmosphere. So why would that man be there? Why would that guy be their arm? I seriously tried to look very far to find out how to make Tony Masters a Red Room agent. “
