The budget of Black Myth: Wukong was just $43 millionaccording to the reports presented by the Chinese public administration: a sum that is substantially lower than the 70 million that has been discussed so far, and which already seemed low for a similar project.
The data present in the reports is not very clear, in the sense that the current documents indicate actual production costswhile the figures that were cited some time ago by Bloomberg referred to the contributions paid to Game Science by its external shareholders compared to the budget for the development of the game.
In any case, any comparison with a Western triple A should take into account how the Chinese economy works, the extent of wages applied to this sector (inevitably lower when compared to Western realities), the exchange rate and other costs that contribute to making up the picture.
In any case it is a great success
If the budget of Black Myth: Wukong actually amounted to just 43 million dollars, the proportions of the success achieved by Game Science’s action RPG they are even more impressivegiven that we are talking about 20 million copies sold in the first month alone.
And so, while Chinese artists dedicate murals to the game, celebrating its achievements with great prideremains the substance of a title that has conquered the international press thanks to its many qualities and an artistic sector of surprising depth.
These are certainly very interesting aspects, which we naturally also talked about in our review of Black Myth: Wukong. You read it, right?
