The gameplay trailer from Black Myth Wukong, with which you can feast your eyes above, could not have opened his display ofUnreal Engine 5 with better words. “Everything you are about to see has been recorded in-game and in real time; work-in-progress, (the video) does not represent the final look of the game.Which honestly seems unbelievable to us.
THE twelve minutes of material, in fact, would not be out of place in a “cinematic trailer” in computer graphics in which the narration is king. Not this time, the journey of Sun Wukong to the west (which we saw in action in February) is all out of the bag with which the Chinese development team Game Science will allow players to explore the folklore of their homeland.
Gameplay and Unreal Engine 5 aside, the trailer for Black Myth assumes we know Sun Wukong. The protagonist of The journey to the west, historical novel of 1590 by Wú Chéng’ēn, is best known in two of his incarnations. The first, ironically, goes back to a different property of Epic Games: the literary character is a skin in the items shop of Fortnite.
The second, on the other hand, we can easily associate it with a fixed presence in pop culture if we remember that Sun Wukong is a monkey-boy armed with a stick. On him, at least in the first volumes, he was in fact based on none other than Dragon Ball when it arrived in our newsstands in the mid-eighties. Dragons also pop up in the video.
Although we can dwell on how much the novel (also known by us as The monkey or Son Goku: the stone monkey) was an ambassador for the ideals of the Buddhism around the world, you may be more interested in the purely gaming aspect. The video above and its human-faced raptors almost speak for themselves, but let’s remember one thing.
The action adventure with role-playing elements, in addition to soulslike atmospheres from open-stage applause, supports the technology of ray tracing of NVIDIA, as well as the DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling for AI. It goes without saying that we can expect too sixty frames per second in 4K. We look forward to a release date, stick and controller in hand.
